Frequently asked questions

Is the visit self-guided?

Yes. Your ticket is a standard entry to the castle museum, valid all day on the date you choose — you explore the halls, courtyards and terraces at your own pace, with no fixed tour or time slot. That makes it ideal for international visitors: there is no language barrier and no set departure to catch. We send a short audio history you can listen to as you walk up.

Does my ticket have to be for a specific day?

You choose the date you plan to visit, and your ticket is valid all that day during opening hours. There is no fixed entry time — arrive whenever suits you within opening hours and show your ticket at the gate.

What's included in the ticket?

Full entry to the Bratislava Castle museum — the historical exhibitions of the Slovak National Museum in the Baroque palace, the courtyards, the Baroque garden and the terraces with their views over the Danube. Temporary exhibitions may occasionally carry a separate charge set by the operator.

How and when do I get my ticket?

We send your ticket to your email once your booking is confirmed — a mobile ticket you show on your phone, with nothing to print. You'll also receive a short 5-minute audio history to enjoy before you go.

How do I get to Bratislava Castle?

The castle is on the hill just west of the old town, a 10–15 minute walk uphill from the centre or the Danube embankment, or a short taxi ride. It's an easy visit if you arrive by Danube river cruise, and a popular stop on a day trip from Vienna, which is about an hour away.

How long should I allow for the visit?

Most visitors spend about 1.5 to 2 hours — enough for the museum halls, the courtyards and time on the terraces for the views and photos. Add extra time for the walk up and down the hill, and for the Baroque garden on the north side.

Is it worth going inside, or just for the views?

Both are worthwhile. The terraces and courtyards give you the famous panorama over the Danube into Austria and Hungary, while inside, the reconstructed Baroque interiors and the Slovak National Museum's historical collections — including the prehistoric Venus of Moravany — tell the long story of the castle and the region. Your ticket covers the museum; the grounds themselves are freely accessible.

Can I visit Bratislava Castle as a day trip from Vienna?

Yes — Bratislava is about an hour from Vienna by train, bus or boat, and the castle is one of the first things most visitors head for. Reserving your entry in advance means you can walk straight in when you arrive and spend your limited day-trip time on the castle and old town rather than queuing.

What is the Crown Tower?

The oldest part of the castle, a 47-metre tower dating from the 13th century. Between 1552 and 1784 it guarded the Holy Crown of Hungary, the sacred regalia used to crown Hungarian kings, watched over by Hungarian and Austrian soldiers. It's a striking feature of the castle's silhouette.

Do I need my passport or any ID?

The standard adult ticket needs no ID. Reduced tickets — senior, student and child rates — may require you to show a valid ID or student card at the gate to prove eligibility.

Is the castle good for children?

Yes — the hilltop setting, the towers and the wide terraces give children room and plenty to look at, and the museum has family-friendly displays. There are family tickets for one adult with up to two children, or two adults with up to three children, and under-6s enter free.

Is Bratislava Castle open all year?

The museum is generally open year-round, Tuesday to Sunday, usually around 10:00–18:00, and typically closed on Mondays and some public holidays; hours shift with the season and around events. The castle grounds and terraces are open longer and freely accessible. Confirm the museum hours for your date.

Can I change my mind after booking?

All bookings are final once confirmed; we only issue a refund in the rare event the operator cannot honour a validly issued ticket. If your plans shift, contact our team and we'll help where the operator's rules allow. See our terms for the full policy.

Are you the official Bratislava Castle ticket office?

No. We're an independent concierge service for international visitors. We buy genuine tickets on your behalf from the castle's official ticketing, run by the Slovak National Museum, and handle the booking in your own language, and our service fee is included in the price shown. You can always buy directly from the operator if you prefer.

What currency am I charged in?

The price you see is the price you pay — we show it in your local currency where we can and charge exactly that amount, with no surprise fees at checkout. Payment is by card on a secure page.
